leather

The origins of leather can be traced back to the very beginning of humanity. Very early on man looked into keeping the hides of the animals he was hunting to use them as clothing as well as protective items in his home. He began processing leather, and tanning techniques improved over time. The emergence of urban centres determined the areas where leather was processed: close to city centres to sell the wares and purchase the necessary supplies and, of course, near rivers to prepare the hides. A natural and resistant material, real leather weathers well and improves with time. In the PINTON Couture rug collection, locally sourced leather combines with other materials, as inserts or as the basis of the rug into which yarns of wool, silk, cotton, etc. are threaded. It adds a thoroughly modern touch as well as a unique texture and a supple and matt finish.
