Johan Creten

Johan Creten is a Belgian artist living in Paris. His art explores the medium of ceramics, with which he has been working for nearly 40 years, constantly seeking to push the boundaries of this baked material as a master sculptor. He contributed to the reintroduction of ceramics, in its broader meaning, in contemporary design. His creative path led him to the United States, the Netherlands and the Villa Médicis where he was in residency for two years, the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvre, the French historic ceramics manufactory, where he took residency from 2004 to 2007.

Poetry, lyricism and allegory inhabit his work, consisting in sculptures made of ceramics and bronze. As a ceramic artist, Johan Creten rose to the challenge of creating a rug for PINTON, giving it the opportunity to produce a new exceptional piece by an artist of its time, under the art direction of Yves Sabourin.
